We are entering the time of the semester when stress and anxiety begin to creep into our daily lives. Students are in the midst of projects and exams, while faculty and staff are working on their research and teaching deadlines as we near the end of the semester. In addition, we are experiencing concerns from around the world with major ongoing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, and humanitarian crises impacting people across other regions. All of these and other stressful events can leave us struggling with upsetting emotions and anxiety.

At one time or another, all students, faculty, and staff experience these challenges. Continuing to exhibit compassion, grace, and understanding for one another and utilizing available support resources can help each of us navigate through stressful times. It is also important to make time for self-care, such as taking a walk, meditating, or spending time with family and friends.

If you need help managing anxiety or stress, please visit the Mental Health at Iowa website to access a variety of resources available to everyone on campus. Stay well.
