Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Kidder to visit UI

Published on September 12, 2024

Iowa Writers’ Workshop alum and acclaimed nonfiction author Tracy Kidder (74MFA) will take part in a free, public event at the Iowa Memorial Union’s Main Lounge, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. He will reflect on his lengthy literary career and read from some of his bestselling work.

The event also will feature a conversation—about the power of long-form investigative writing—between Kidder and renowned author Stuart Dybek (73MFA) as well as a Q&A session and book signing.

The author of nonfiction classics such as “The Soul of a New Machine” and “Mountains Beyond Mountains,” Kidder is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Iowa. In addition to being a Pulitzer Prize winner, he also is the recipient of the National Book Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Award, and many other honors.

This event is free. Guests should register in advance.
