Don’t miss the Public Health Conference of Iowa student networking session, My Accidental Public Health Career. The pandemic has caused us to change up our normal ways of working, so we’re changing up this popular event, as well. This year, we’ve invited guests who are leaders in their fields, but whose careers or career paths are not typical when we think of public health professionals.
Join us for the PHCI student networking sessions and hear from:
- Mike Armstrong, Director of Planning and Communications, The Street Collective
- Tony Leys, Des Moines Register Health Reporter
- Tinika Roland, Community Health Worker Educator & Community Advocate
- Beth Skinner, Director, Iowa Department of Corrections
- Kelly Wells Sittig, Executive Director of Iowa Cancer Consortium
They’ll share their career paths, how their current work intersects with public health, and their post-pandemic vision of partnering for public health. Students, speakers, and session attendees will have multiple opportunities for informal networking during the 90-minute session. As a bonus to attending the session, IPHA and IEHA are offering to make an introduction to a public health professional following the conference for 1:1 networking.
The session is free for all, but registration is required and separate from your PHCI registration. You do not need to be registered for the PHCI to participate in the student session. Registration deadline 3.31.2021.
