Dr. Carol S. Gleich Development Award
The Dr. Carol S. Gleich Development Award is available to faculty members and graduate students in the College of Public Health to support travel expenses to perform an official function at a national or international meeting. The meeting must be national or international in scope.
Eligibility
CPH primary faculty and graduate students currently enrolled in CPH degree programs who are in good academic standing are eligible to apply.
Award recipients must be participating in the meeting in an official function.
Official function examples:
- Presenting a paper
- Serving on a panel
- Giving a poster presentation
- Receiving an award
- Serving on a committee
- Functioning as an officer
- Any visible role that brings recognition to the College of Public Health
Preferences
Per donor wishes, first preference is given to women, although anyone may apply. For faculty, special emphasis will be considered for associate and full professors.
Guidelines
Budget and Timeframe
Provide a timeframe, budget, budget justification and, if applicable, include support from other sources. Award amounts are subject to available funds and may not cover the entirety of the budget requested.
Purpose and Description of Request
Provide the name of the meeting and your proposed role at the meeting.
Provide answers to the following questions:
- How will attending this meeting further your public health career?
- How will your attendance bring recognition to the College of Public Health?
Endorsement
For students: Provide signature of approval from your DEO or program director.
For faculty: Provide signature of approval from your DEO or dean.
Award Deadline
Applications will be reviewed twice yearly, on or around October 1 and March 1.
Selection Process
Per donor wishes, the dean and the most senior female and male faculty members (years in rank) of the CPH Executive Committee will review submissions and determine recipients.
Previous Awards
Preference will be given to first-time applicants. Applicants are limited to one award over a two-year period. Specify if you have received an award in the past, including the date and amount.
Post-Award Requirement
The granting of this award and the results of participation may be publicized by the college. It is encouraged that results from the meeting be disseminated. For example, publication of a paper/article and/or proceedings.
