CPH faculty among UI award recipients

Four College of Public Health faculty are among the recipients of several end-of-year awards from the University of Iowa.
Rima Afifi, professor of community and behavioral health, and Elizabeth Chrischilles, professor and head of epidemiology, are two of six outstanding University of Iowa faculty members to be honored with the 2024 Regents Award for Faculty Excellence. Each recipient of the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence received a $1,500 stipend and will be honored at an awards celebration during the June Board of Regents meeting in Iowa City. The recipients were selected by committees appointed by shared governance in collaboration with the UI administration and confirmed by the Board of Regents.
Natoshia Askelson, associate professor of community and behavioral health, is one of four University of Iowa faculty members selected as recipients of the Iowa Mid-Career Faculty Scholar Awards for 2024. This award provides funding and development opportunities for outstanding tenured associate professors who have established national or international reputations in their disciplines and are exceptional teachers in and out of the classroom.
Cara Hamann, associate professor of epidemiology, has received the 2024 Faculty Communicating Ideas Award from the Office of the Vice President for Research. This award recognizes excellence in communication about research and scholarship in the sciences and humanities and the study of creative, visual, and performing arts to a general audience directly or via print and electronic media.
