Sign up to meet with Executive-in-Residence Debra Waldron

Dr. Debra Waldron, MD, MPH, FAAP, senior vice-president of child health and wellness at the American Academy of Pediatrics, will be at the College of Public Health as an IIPHRP Executive-in-Residence April 2-3, 2019. Dr Waldron will present a spotlight lecture on Wednesday, April 3titled, “The American Academy of Pediatrics, Partnerships that Improve Child Health.”

In addition, Dr. Waldron will meet with small groups of students to talk about careers, provide advice, and answer questions that you might have regarding her expertise and her career path. Dr Waldron provides a unique public health perspective as she was a practicing pediatrician for many years, and then went on to direct the Iowa Maternal and Child Health Program for Children with Special Health Needs.

While in Iowa, Dr. Waldron was vice chair of child health policy and professor of pediatrics at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Following her time in Iowa, Dr. Waldron served as director of the Division of Services for Children with Special Health Needs at the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration. At MCHB, she led a national program to improve access to family-centered, community-based, integrated systems of clinical and public health services for children with special health needs and their families. Dr. Waldron received her medical degree from New York Medical College and Master’s of Public Health from the University of Minnesota.
