Published on January 16, 2025
Becky Bucklin, MPH, research manager for the University of Iowa Prevention Research Center for Rural Health, will present the webinar “Advancing Evidence-Based Interventions in Rural Communities” on Jan. 30 from noon to 1 p.m. CST.
Registration is free at this link. Please note you may need to create a Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) account, which is also free.
This Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) webinar will discuss an overview of the adapted Putting Public Health Evidence in Action Training that the University of Iowa Prevention Research Center for Rural Health adapted in partnership with community advisors and input from previous trainees to be more applicable for rural communities.
The Putting Public Health Evidence in Action Training was initially designed by the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network to assist health practitioners and program planners in developing capacity to use evidence-based approaches. The adapted training takes the original training and makes it more widely digestible to a wide range of practitioners working in public health and community-based organizations in rural and micropolitan communities.
The talk will cover main takeaways from each of the six modules of the trainings, will highlight examples from rural communities of training principles being applied, and the activities and resources that accompany the adapted training.
The webinar will be recorded and posted to the NNLM region six YouTube channel after the talk. Please note that the webinar will offer CNE in addition to CHES continuing educations credits.
