Zeng announced winner of ASA student paper competition

Yaohui Zeng, a doctoral student in biostatistics, has been selected as a winner of this year’s student paper competition sponsored by the American Statistical Association (ASA) Section on Statistical Computing.
Yaohui’s paper is entitled “The biglasso Package: A Memory- and Computation-Efficient Solver for Lasso Model Fitting with Big Data in R.” The paper is related to Yaohui’s thesis research, and is co-authored with his dissertation advisor, Patrick Breheny.
Winners of this award receive a $1,000 cash prize, present their work in a dedicated topic-contributed session at Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM), and are recognized at the Statistical Computing & Graphics Mixer (usually held Monday night at JSM).
