The Global Health Case Competition trains future leaders through a real-world challenge. Students from multiple disciplines creatively address critical global health challenges in a collaborative environment. All enrolled UI students are eligible, and the winning team receives $500 per person. The registration deadline is Feb. 24, and the team presentation will be on April 7. Published January 22, 2025
Nominations for 2025 Outstanding Alumni Awards due March 3
The UI College of Public Health is pleased to announce that it is accepting nominations for its 2025 Outstanding Alumni Awards. This award program recognizes outstanding alumni in two categories: first, recent graduates who have completed College of Public Health programs within the past ten years and, second, other alumni for accomplishments throughout their careers. Iowa researchers examine association of hurricanes with veterans’ mental health
Natural disasters such as hurricanes and tropical storms are increasing in frequency and severity due to global climate change. A new study by University of Iowa researchers evaluated whether exposure to hurricanes is associated with adverse mental health outcomes among U.S. veterans. Published January 21, 2025

Denise Jamieson to deliver inaugural Hospital and Health Systems Leadership Lecture
Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, Vice President for Medical Affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Health Care, will deliver the inaugural Hospital and Health Systems Leadership Lecture on Feb. 19, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. in Callaghan Auditorium (N110 CPHB). The title of Jamieson’s lecture is, “Leading UI Health Care: Perspectives from a Career at the Intersection of Public Health and Clinical Medicine.” Published January 14, 2025
